The latest word from our Trail Coordinator:
"Cadillac Winter Promotions groomed 10,805 miles during the short 10.5 week season this past year. That equals 100+ passes over EVERY mile of our trail system. The volunteers spent 1585 hours behind the steering wheels grooming, in addition to over 400 hours of fall and winter signing, brushing and trail grading. Our 4 groomers burned 8,281 gallons of fuel, at an average cost of $2.45/gallon ($20,289). Now add in all the repair costs, and the initial cost of the groomers and drags, and snowmobilers can better understand the need for the cost increase in trail permits this past season. Remember, we are just 1 of the 70 grooming organizations that groom the 6,500+ miles of trails in our state.
The groomers are parked, drags and tire chains removed, and the brush cutters will be installed soon to start brushing on the White Pine Trail between Cadillac and Leroy."
