NASF Announces Major Sponsorship by Northern Michigan Toyota Dealers
December 2012 - The Northern Michigan Toyota Dealers announced that they will sponsor the North American Snow Festival (NASF) as the Presenting Sponsor for the 2013 event. The sponsorship monies will be invested in promoting the event to draw more attendees to the events throughout the upcoming four day festival, January 31 - February 3, 2013.
2013 AMA National Championship Ice Races to be hosted in Cadillac
July - The Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau was contacted mid month by Baha Acres, with the notification that they will be returning to Cadillac to host their 2013 AMA National Championship Ice Races on Lake Cadillac. Last year they moved the races from downstate due to lack of ice on the lake there. The actual date of the event is yet to be determined, but will be in February 2013. Stay tuned for more updates as we bring more events and activities to Cadillac!

An article from the Back to the Bricks Tour on MLive, by Scott Atkinson, indicates that the June 18 Downtown Cadillac stop that rolled out the Red Carpet and shut down Mitchell Street for the first time in 20+ years was definitely the #1 stop, with a few close seconds.
Organizers in Cadillac are hoping for the stop to come back next year.
Recreation Excellence Award given to Caberfae Peaks Ski & Golf Resort
April 19, 2012. Cadillac, Michigan. At the Cadillac Area Visitor Bureaus Annual Meeting last night presented Caberfae Peaks Ski & Golf Resort with the first Annual “Recreation Excellence Award.” Jim Neff, who was honored to present the award, reminded over 70 attendees how lucky we are to have a ski resort that has been here since 1937. He noted that since 1982 over 250 communities across the nation have lost their community ski resorts. He commended the Meyer Family who since 1982 have been successful in building what he thinks is the best ski hills in the state. Rep. Phil Potvin, also an avid skier, noted that he grew up on the slope of Caberfae and is always excited to hit the slopes when he can during the winter at Caberfae. Potvin also noted that as a fellow family business owner, he fully commended the Meyer family for their continued commitment to Caberfae and the ski industry as a whole.
Accepting on behalf of the Caberfae Team was Pete and Alli Meyer, and Tim and Mandy Meyer. ‘This is a great honor, but what when we see multiple generations coming out to ski together, that is truly why we work hard every day at Caberfae, it’s a great family sport and a sport we love,’ said Pete Meyer, upon acceptance of the award. Rec Boat Holdings will hold Boat Building Tours
April 9, 2012. An official schedule for Rec Boat Holding facility tours has been developed and is now avialable to plan as part of your Cadillac visit. During the one hour visit you will be taken behind the scenes of Four Winns, Glastron, & Wellcraft boat design, engineering, production and testing. 'Cadillac High' movie -when Cadillac was KISSed in 1975 has good potential...

March 6, 2012: "Cadillac High," a feature film based on the KISS's 1975 celebratory tour to the city of Cadillac, has received conditional approval for incentives to shoot the movie in Michigan.
And since the movie turned in its application to the Michigan Film Office before last year's Dec. 31 deadline, incentives to locate filming of "Cadillac High" won't be subject to the 2012 cap of $25 million budgeted by the state... for the rest of the potential KISS story movie click here.

Mark Martin sets 2013 Inland Ice Fishing Vacation School date in Cadillac
February 13, 2012: Mark Martin officially announced that he will begin hosting the Inland Ice Fishing Vacation School in Cadillac starting January 20-23, 2013. This announcement comes after several weeks of fishing Lakes Cadillac & Mitchell as his students learned new techniques for an array of fish including northern pike, crappie, panfish, and walleye. The student response was great and he hopes to have another successful school in 2013. The Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau will assist Mark in hosting his school in Cadillac. Details available here...
February 1, 2012: The Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau was notified a few weeks ago that the AMA National Championship Ice Races alternate date and location could be on Lake Cadillac, but the final decision wouldn't be made until February 2. Race officials contacted Joy VanDrie, Executive Director of the CAVB yesterday and its a GO!
The Ice Races will be officially moved to Lake Cadillac, February 11-12, 2012. The North American Action Sports (NAAC) hosts several AMA multi season races around Michigan. For race details, go to AMA Ice Race Grand Championships website or the Baja Acres facebook page. The Cadillac Area is very excited to host this event. The Cadillac Area Visitors Bureau will be hosting the 3 nationally ranked anglers, their pro staff and several midwest outdoor writers in the area for the week. The group will be catching a taste of Cadillac with a local flavor selection for breakfast, lunch and dinner at local restaurants, staying at local hotels and also meeting some of the area outdoor enthusiasts for snowmobiling, fish decoy collections and other angler related local contacts.
There are no reservations accepted or required for the seminar, it is on a first come first serve basis. the seminar will take place at the MDNR Carl T Johnson Hunting & Fishing Center in Cadillac.
Caberfae is a Ford ‘Escape’ for Detroit Auto Show
January 9-22, 2012: Detroit, Michigan. Caberfae Peaks Ski Resort in Cadillac, Michigan, was part of the great ‘Escape’ game trivia in the 2012 Ford Motor Interactive Displayat the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), January 9-22 at the Cobo Center in Detroit. Over 700,000 visitors and 2,000 automotive companies attended the show in 2011, more are expected in 2012.Caberfae was one of four areas highlighted in the Ford booth, specifically highlighting where you can ‘escape to’ from the Detroit area on one tank of gas in the all-new Ford Escape, projected to achieve the best fuel economy of any compact SUV and up to 5 mpg better than previous Escape...
Caberfae was highlighted with graphic banners touting it as ‘Michigan’s Closest UpNorth Ski Resort’, noting that it’s only 208 miles from Detroit, and also identifying Michigan as having the second most alpine resorts in the nation, at 38 in total.
